SK hynix expands to the North American market with the worlds first 128-Layer NAND consumer PCIe NVMe SSD

Competitive speeds with a competitive price tag.

What’s the skinny? SK Hynix, a global semiconductor supplier based in Korea, announced today the release of its newest PCIe SSD: the SK Hynix Gold P31. Not only is this the world’s first 128-layer NAND consumer-based NVMe SSD, but its also the company’s first consumer-facing PCIe SSD launched in the United States under the SK Hynix brand.

Of course, being 2020, the Gold P31 is targeted towards gamers, designers, and content creators. The drive has a PCIe NVMe interface and is currently available in 500GB and 1TB capacities. The 4D NAND Flash SSD is currently being sold on Amazon U.S but hopefully coming to Canada as well in the near future.

The Gold P31 has read speeds of up to 3,500 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,200 MB/s. That is about as good as it gets with a Gen 3 PCIe SSD, which should pit it nicely against the higher priced Samsung drives. The drives also come with a five-year (limited) warranty.
