Gigabyte GeForce RTX™ 2060 OC 6G Review

A closer look at the RTX 2060 from Gigabyte.

The Gigabyte GeForce RTX™ 2060 OC 6G is it worth your hard earned?

Gigabyte GeForce RTX™ 2060 OC 6G Overview

The Gigabyte Geforce RTX 2060 OC edition features 6GB of GDDR6 192-bit memory and 2x Windforce alternating 90mm fans. This version has a core clock of 1755 MHz and memory clock of 14000 MHz and that is up from the reference model that has a core clock of 1680 MHz. The 2060 is based on the Touring architecture which has 1920 Cuda Cores and 38 RTX-OPS. This Gigabyte model also has a back plate which isn’t common at this price point. Most other companies don’t include back plates at this tier of cards. Its usually reserved for higher end models that come at a price premium.

The cooler has direct touch heat pipes and its 2, 90mm Windforce fans spin in opposite directions. Gigabyte claims the two fans spinning in a normal configuration ( both fans spinning in the same direction) causes air flow turbulence because the 2 fans are fighting each other. So by Gigabyte spinning their 2 fans in apposing directions the result is less turbulence and better airflow pressure which helps cool the heat pipes more efficiently.

Final Thoughts

The Gigabyte GeForce RTX™ 2060 OC 6G is among the more affordable RTX 2060’s if you can call $479.99CAD affordable. That is crypto currency boom time prices for a mid range GPU. Not that it’s Gigabytes fault for the pricing. The Gigabyte GeForce RTX™ 2060 OC 6G is a good card overall with competive pricing for this round of GPU’s from the green team. If you are in the market for an RTX 2060 this one is worth a look.
